Hot Zone Part 1

When reading the first part of The Hot Zone I found myself very interested in all aspects of the virus, it's effects, how it's spread and also contemplating how this could impact everyone around the infected. At the same time however, i also found myself pretty disgusted at the intense details given into the affects on Charles Monet. I was extremely glad to see Dr. Musoke recover from his scare with the virus and it gave me hope that the rest of the book wouldn't be filled with so much graphic detail or death.
I also quite enjoyed gaining knowledge about how these small outbreaks are handled and i'm looking forward to reading the rest of this book because for the most part it's very interesting. To be honest this kind of surprised me because i didn't think i would like a book focused on this particular subject but it keeps me wanting to know more and figure this out.

  1. I was also disgusted at the details of Monet's experience especially when Preston described how Monet bled from his anus and how it was mixed with his intestinal linings. However he does a really nice job of scaring the reader with the effects of this virus with these gruesome details.
