Scavenger Hunt

Ectotherm

A snake is an ectotherm because it regulates its body temperature largely by exchanging heat with its surroundings they are also known as cold-blooded animals.
CAM PLANT

A CAM plant, such as these pineapples, utilize Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) as an adaptation for arid conditions. CO2 entering the stomata during the night is converted into organic acids, which release CO2 for the Calvin Cycle during the day, when the stomata are closed.
Gymnosperm Cones

Gymnosperm produce produce pollen and eggs in structures called cones.  These gymnosperm cones are the reproductive organs of a pinecone tree.
Mating Behavior

Mating Behavior is the way in which animals behave and act when they wish to mate.  These two rhinos had to go through this process in order to reach the mating phase shown above.

Introduced Species

Introduced species are a non-native and non-indigenous species found in an environment. These palm trees are not native to Wisconsin and were brought here by humans making them an introduced species. Introduced species can sometimes be harmful to the environments they are introduced to by hunting down key-stone species and causing an imbalance in the ecosystem.  These trees, however, seem pretty harmless and do not seem to cause any disturbances in the ecosystem.
