First 5 Scavenger Hunt Photos

1. Autotrophs

These organisms are autotrophs because they are self-sustaining and produce oxygen through photosynthesis.

2. Cuticle Layer of a plant

The outer layer of this plant serves as a protective barrier and is permeable to water.

3. Spores

The spores seen on this plant serve as a reproductive mechanism that is durable under many conditions.

4. Pollen
The fine yellow powder that can be seen on top of these filaments contain the microgametophytes of this plant which in-turn produce male gametes (sperm cells) for reproduction.

5. Adaptation of a plant

The small spikes on this plant serve as an adaptational structure in that they protect the plant from being  eaten or crushed by animals.
