The Hotzone (Part 3)

I can't imagine going to the monkey house knowing i would have to kill them all.  That and risking my health at the same time. Its a good thing only one of the monkeys escaped. Also seeing two workers get sick and thinking it was this deadly disease. They all must have death in the back of their minds the entire time. I cant believe they put more monkeys in that house, and then they got sick too! The entire us population is lucky it didnt spread through humans! I learned that viruses are complicated and so related. It takes extreemly educated (and brave) People to study them. I wonder how it is possible that monkeys can be almost like us geneticlly, and yet this virus did not spread to humans.

  1. Monkeys are not almost like us genetically, they are 4% different. Your point about how small genetic differences is really good though, as there were many other humanoids surviving at the same time as humans today, and they all died off, leaving only us. Neanderthal's gene code was .004% different from us, if Juan Enriquez is correct in this talk.

I wonder if those species were killed by a virus that we somehow survived, or if it is another reason.
