Hot zone: part 3

I thought that part 3 was the most interesting part of the book because it's where all the action happened. It was thrilling reading all the action that happened in the monkey house, and I was amazed at how none of the people got sick.  It suprised me that Geisbert and Jahrling, who sniffed Ebola, didn't get sick as well.  It was fascinating that Ebola Zaire and Ebola Reston were so closely related but had such different effects.  It saddened me to know that all those monkeys actually were killed because this was a true story.  I learned how complicated and structured it was to exterminate and handle a level 4 hot agent.  I also learned that some viruses might be extremely dead to some species (such as monkeys) but harmless to others (such as humans.) I also learned that viruses can change from harmless to deadly by only a slight chnage in their DNA or proteins.  But one exactly makes Ebola Reston not deadly to humans? And will Ebola change itself to become deadly? And what happens to the abandoned monkey house?

  1. I agree part 3 was interesting and both Ebola Zaire and Ebola Reston are so alike but do have different affects.
