The Hot Zone: Part 3
The book is beginning to pick up speed with the amount of things happening at the same time. For example, Nancy's dad dying while the monkey house is running around panicking from fear of ebola. I am also finding that the more I read, the more I feel the reality and seriousness of the book. In this part of the book, everyone (so to speak) is getting involved in this mysterious outbreak of sickness in this monkey house where no one seem to care about precautions. When USAMRIID take over the case, they struggle to keep it from new reporters and the like. It was a shock to me how they didn't find out about the incident with the loose monkey. When Rhonda's suit was penetrated and had a hole in it, I felt so sorry and scared for her. This chapter still left me with some questions though. How can the ebola virus evolve so quickly to a virus that is deadly to monkeys, but not necessarily people?
