mycelium

Though they are not visible in this picture, these mushrooms have mycelia (the plural of mycelium) The mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus that is made up of threadlike hyphae. The mycelium also allows the fungus to take in nutrients. Since these mushrooms are fungi and they are alive, they must have a mycelium.
