Seed Dispersal (wind): the transport of seeds away from the parent plant. These seeds can be blown off of this tree; therefore it is the dispersal of seeds through wind power.Stigma and Style of Carpel: female reproductive organ on a flower. Stigma is the pistol's tip and the Style is the tube on the top of the ovary. (The carpel is the entire thing; I know it's hard to see here in the picture, but trust me, it's there.)
Sporophyte: The spore-producing phase in the life cycle of a plant that exhibits alteration of generations. A pine tree is sporophyte even if its pine cones are gametophytes.
Anther and Filament of Stamen: The male reproductive organ on a flower. The anther is the pollen bearing part of the stamen. The Filament is the stalk portion of the stamen and supports the anther.Spore: a reproductive structure, some of which are adapted for dispersal and surviving for extended periods of time in unfavorable conditions. Lots of spores can be found in mushrooms.
Rhizome: Like this yam, a rhizome is the stem of a plant and is usually found underground. It also shoots out shoots and roots from its nodes.
Ectotherm: an organism in which internal physiological sources of heat are relatively small or quite nonexistent in controlling body temperature. A coldblooded animal such as this frog or what's let of it.
Adaptation of an Animal: This Toad was adapting to its new environment (our street), unfortunately this toad got itself killed while attempting to adapt...Animal that has a Segmented Body: These hornets inside my neighbors mailbox have segmented bodies: meaning that their bodies are in segments.
C3 Plant: A plant that utilizes C3 carbon fixation pathway as the sole mechanism to convert CO2 into an organic compound, such as this potato.
Hermaphrodite: an organism that has both male and female reproductive organs. Worms are an example of hermaphrodites.
