This is the most interesting (and scary) non-fiction book I have ever read.  It's a great read and I love this book! It's mind blowing to know that such a tiny little organism could cause so much destruction! As I embark on a journey across oceans this week, it makes me realize how many viruses, organisms, parasites, or I don't know what I could be exposed to in the air or on surfaces.  It makes the zombie apocalypse idea seem so real. I want to know what happens next in the book and I hope that an outbreak of Ebola NEVER happens.

  1. I definetly agree with you on the hope of never actually having an Ebola outbreak that will affect humans. This book has also made me think about all the diseases and things we can't see that could demolish our civilization as we know it. It is mindboggling to even think that could happen, but I don't doubt that it could. That is what scares me.

  2. I agree when you say that this book makes us realize how many viruses and other things we could be exposed to. It's weird to think that things like these exist in our world and that outbreaks of such an usual disease could occur. A lot of people hear about this things but do not realize how close they could actually be to encountering them.

  3. It's strange to think about all the "Zombie attacks" that have happened recently and then read The Hot Zone, in which they describe people as being like zombies. Which, they kind of are. They're living, somehow, when technically by modern standards they should be dead. The people in this book are medical miracles whether they lived or not. To have survived even a week with Marburg or Ebola is incredible. People laugh at the idea that a 'Zombie Apocalypse' is coming yet maybe it is but it's just got the wrong name. That's definitely a scary thought. Hope you had a safe trip, Eva!

  4. I'm glad I didn't start reading this book on my flight! Talk about air sickness. It's frightening to think of how helpless we are, especially vacuum packed on an airplane where anyone can be carrying anything. It's a scary thought when you realize that a lethal virus like Ebola or Marburg is a flight away from anywhere in the world. I'm surprised there hasn't been a more serious outbreak yet. Hopefully not any time soon!
