Vestigial Structures

A vestigial structure refers to an organ or body part that is significantly reduced from their original ancestral form.  A vestigial structure is no longer functional or it has an altered function, the wings of this Emu are an example of a vestigial structure.  Emus cannot fly and instead they use their wings to stabilize themselves while they run which is an example of an altered function.
