meristem

meristem-embryonic tissue in plants, undifferented, growing, actively dividing cells. The meristem is found in areas of a plant where the growth can take place. The shoot apical meristem gives rise to organs such as this flower. The floral meristem produces the sepals, petals, stamens, and carpels of the flower.
