Asexual Repro / Frond / Fermentation / Genetic Variation with a Population / Heterotroph

Frond: as shown by this really cool Japanese Painted Fern, a frond is a divided leaf

Asexual Reproduction: an organism capable of producing offspring all by itself (without a mate). A worm, when cut in half, will grow into two separate worms with identical genetic makeup.

Heterotroph: My dog is an example of an organism that cannot make it's own food.  She must consume puppy kibble in order to function.

Fermentation: The yeast in this bread starter is consuming the sugars in the batter, creating a off-gassing of carbon dioxide.  This process is fermentation.

Genetic Variation within  a Population: This hosta is demonstrating this phenomena through the different leaf colorations within this one plant.
