Adaptation of an Animal: Flight Feathers



Certain birds possess tightly spaced feathers on their wings which, when flapped, can create enough thrust to allow flight, which can aid in hunting, fleeing predators, migration, etc.

Because flight feathers can become damaged, certain birds have evolved to be able to release their feathers, or "molt", allowing new replacement feathers to grow in their place.
