Succession

Succession is the steps of rehabilitation an environment goes through after some sort of disturbance. This mysterious little hill probably used to be part of an exhibit at the zoo but now top soil is forming and grass is beginning to grow. The little mound can sustain small organisms like insects. Eventually, if left undisturbed (which it won't be), the area could grow to hold larger vegetation and species.
