Part two of Hot Zone
I thought that part two of the Hot Zone was much more exciting than part one, especially once the Army gets involved and they all start heading into the monkey house. I think its a bad idea to hand the house over to the Army because who knows what they might do with it. I have to admit that I get a little confused between the characters since there are so many different male characters. I find it crazy that they've been able to hide this Ebola outbreak from the public for so long. I can't believe that some of the workers have entered the monkeyhouse completely unprotected with such a deadly virus. It is interesting learning about all the equipment they use to analyze viruses and test them for Ebola. There are so many adaptation that viruses can make to their environment that I didn't know was possible. Some questions I have are what will happen when the public finds out about this outbreak and how long will it take? And does the second worker from the monkey house have Ebola or was he just sick? And will any other humans catch the virus? And is Ebola able to travel through the air? And how many of the monkeys left will catch it and die?

I completely agree, all of the switching between characters confused me to. Not to mention when they stop on someones life story then switch to another persons life.
ReplyDeleteI found the equipment interesting too. I think that the public does have some idea of the outbreak becuase some ladies said they heard about it on the news or radio and were scared. I think that the whole city will go into panic if or when they confirm that there is a hot agent in the monkey house.
ReplyDeleteI get confused with the characters too. I found a character index in the back of the book if you ever get confused, it helped me a lot.
