CAM Plant

CAM Plant - any plant that undergoes a form of photosynthesis known as crassulacean acid metabolism, in which carbon dioxide is taken up only at night. Pineapple is an example of this because the stomata in the leaves remain shut during the day to reduce evapotranspiration, but open at night to collect carbon dioxde.
