Altruistic Behavior

Altruistic behavior, essentially, is when one organism works for the greater good of the population or species of said organism. In this case, a meerkat (from the zoo, obviously) perches to watch for threats to it's gang. Even though watch duty could put this particular meerkat in danger, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the single organism with altruism.
