Adaptation of an Animal

Often in nature, an animal must change to survive in certain environments. In Africa, the major food source for a large herbivore is trees. Therefore, giraffes as a species had to adapt to reach the edible leaves. They evolved to have longer necks and legs. Adaptations in animals can show changes in environments over time. This particular adaptation could suggest that giraffes may have had a lower food source in the past. It could suggest that perhaps they used to live in more heavily forested areas, like the tropics where bushes and shrubbery are more abundant.
